you can do an encrypted Google search through DuckDuckGo, at least that was a feature at some point. On my old computer, I would get DNS errors when trying to connect to Google, Bing, or Yahoo! for some reason. Besides lets face it, other search engines don't have near the breadth of Google, but depends how complex your search needs are.
Yandex also had a superior reverse image search engine. Google's gotten much better in the past couple years or so, but for a while would just return results based on popularity, not similarity like Yandex or even Bing.
Hey thanks for the tip on the yandex reverse image search! Sometimes if I want to test a photo against more than tineye I cant even find the google page for a reverse image search and never thought to check bing or yandex (which Ive heard of but never actually tried for searches)
