My plans for my twitch channel and youtube

Posted by Boss - June 18th, 2019

So a couple of months ago I was sort of semi regularly posting news posts to update and advertise that I was streaming old video games on twitch. I did Yoshis Story, Cave Story, Mario 64, Links Awakening, some Mario 64 ROM Edits, and more recently was playing a weird translation ROM of Pokemon Green I grabbed from who knows where.

Streaming is something that builds an audience way better if you can do it consistently, on a weekly basis, or a few times a week, and at first I was doing ok, but then this happened... my hard drive space filled up because videos take lots of Gigabytes.

I have wanted to upload a backlog of all of my streams to youtube for documentations sake, even though a lot of these have my microphone on mono and I didn't realize I had to select a stereo mixdown option in OBS for my mic.

My streams have a lot of other problems finishing touch wise, but overall I think they served functionally as some gameplay with an almost quasi podcast like talking style on my half, and sometimes talking with the people viewing in the chat.. So I want to continue streaming consistently and getting better at all of the aspects of this, but right now I have entered a phase of converting videos, cutting them so it doesnt take too long to upload them to YouTube/crash my computer because I'm trying to handle something too large for it, and then I can start filling it up again with more recordings. In the meantime I have made promotional art in gimp that you can show your grandma and your friends.

I have maybe 20 GB of space free now. When I had filled my HD up I was getting close to like only 2 GB so it felt kind of tight.

I have maybe 20 or 30 more GB of video to convert and upload. Then I'm going to start trying to figure out how to make things into a playlist on my channel and start adding better touches to the production side which god knows it needs but while its in its current form, I personally don't mind the weird pirate radio charm it gives it, but would definitely like to be producing material that actually will draw in more viewers and be something people actually want to share.

So In the meantime you can check out the old backlogs of videos I am putting up onto youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB6CFDOkxrpgz-Ub5SKHM3g

and if you want to follow me on twitch in the meantime so you have a better chance of seeing that I'm live once I get around to it you can follow here: https://www.twitch.tv/boutmypaper420
