i have been to a few but none of the giant famous ones which i hear are also more sketchy. a few ive been to have had multiple stages despite being small-mid size festivals and i think its a fun concept although kind of chaotic
i've been to two, one in the Arizona, and one in Jamaica.
the Arizona one was pretty chill, decent food, bands were alright I guess. Mostly amateur punk and alternative rock bands. I remember there being games and a couple rooms where you could play guitars. Then, the main show was John Mayer. I wasn't expecting to like it, as I was only familiar with his pop music that would play on MTV and whatnot. But the dude can straight wail on guitar. It was mostly instrumental blues/rock stuff, not like you would hear in the mainstream. There were segments where he would turn down his volume and let the drummer and bassist due to the work, and work out a cool riff to jam on with the rhythm guitarist. Overall I was pleasantly surprised.
the Jamaica one was mostly dancehall music- not my thing. It started late at night and lasted until bright in the morning. I remember there being guards/police with AK47's all over the place, which is not uncommon for touristy events and places over there. I smoked too much weed and ended up passing out and landing face first into a pile of mud. Overall not a good experience.
Sounds like good times! Yeah the guards with ak47s would really freak me out!
